Almost five years after the first indications of the ensuing credit crisis emerged, the implications are still being evaluated. GDP contracted marginally in the last three months of 2011 but evidence in early 2012 has been more positive. An indication of better things to come? Unfortunately evidence to suggest challenging times lie ahead is equally abundant. All eyes will be on the chancellor when he delivers the 2012 budget. Reducing the deficit obviously needs to be prioritised but at what expense?
