Information
Sense has been working on the Manchester Building Schools for the Future (BSF) and Academies programme since 2004 as part of an integrated Mace Group effort alongside Mace and Place Group. The programme comprises the re-building or refurbishment of 34 of Manchester's secondary schools.
The aim of the national programme is to improve education attainment in schools by transforming the way in which pupils are taught. Each school has been designed to fully embrace the inclusion of all pupils with special educational needs, incorporate a significant investment in ICT infrastructure and equipment and to provide a positive legacy for the people of Manchester. All of which needs to be achieved within the constraints of a firm budget.
Sense was commissioned to provide commercial management services with Mace providing programme management services including project management and technical support with Place Group appointed as education consultants. Manchester's BSF team is largely staffed by Mace Group personnel who have successfully integrated with the Council's staff.
Mace is currently assisting the the client to develop and procure affordable, value for money solutions through strategic partnering agreements and traditional contract arrangements with Manchester's framework Design and Build Partners. Sense was directly involved in setting the strategy for the procurement of the partnering agreement, the contract documentation, the project incentivisation package and the procurement of ICT services through OJEU.
