Mace has been appointed as project manager and technical advisor on the Harris Academy in Purley, Surrey through its existing relationship with client Croydon Council.
Sense is providing cost consultancy services and Mace's Hertford
office is responsible for engineering design services. The academy will
be operational in the existing buildings from September 2009 with the
new build and refurbishment set for completion in late 2012.
The team will work alongside the sponsor, Harris Federation of South London Schools, to manage the delivery of a £20m new build and refurbishment of the existing Haling Manor school. The aim of the academy will be to provide rapid transformation of Haling Manor which is currently ranked within 30% to 40% of the most deprived locations for schools in the country. Harris Academy Purley is part of the wider 'Transforming Croydon Schools' programme and will specialise in enterprise and sports, accommodating 900 students from 11 to 16 years and 250 older pupils.
