Information
Mace is currently working on the delivery of an outline business case to support the development of a national centre of excellence for Diabetes research, education and clinical delivery.
The “centre of excellence” will create an exemplar for effective high quality diabetes care with many parallels for other long term conditions. The centre will distinguish itself through being an innovator in research, teaching, and clinical practice, thereby establishing it as a leading facility of its kind, also creating opportunities for attracting additional external funding.
The finished facility will bring together the complementary elements of teaching and training of both healthcare professionals and patients, enhancing and facilitating high quality self care and service provision all underpinned and informed by relevant clinical research. This will deliver measurable improvements in health outcomes for local people with diabetes, as well raising our national and international Profile for world class diabetes care and research.
Mace’s role is to ensure that the project has a robust outline business case in order for the client to continue their excellent service delivery and research and meet their ambition and aspirations.
The Centre for Excellence will include:
- Office for the core specialist and community teams
- Teaching and Training Facilities for HCPs
- Patient Assessment Unit for urgent assessment and clinical trials
- Facilities to run group education sessions
- Space to co-ordinate help-line
- Drop-In clinic,
