Fresh Wharf is a mixed use development of a 4.4 ha brownfield site in Barking. The site is currently occupied by light industrial units managed by Fresh Wharf Estates and is located between the A406 and the River Roding. The proposed scheme comprises of residential, commercial and leisure.
The work involves remediation of the land and a phased development of approximately 1160 residential units over 8 years.
In particular, the team has focused upon developing design solutions for the scheme that provide best value to the client, as well as focusing on sustainability in the construction and operation of the building.
Issues identified by the team include MMC and standardisation of building units and components, CHP, reduced water consumption, ground source heat pump systems and renewable energy.
