Information

Mace has been appointed by Buckinghamshire County Council to provide project and communication management throughout this project. The need to deliver waste management facilities capable of meeting obligations laid out under the Landfill Directive and Waste Landfill Allowance Trading Scheme (LATS). LATS and the inherent penalties therein have placed an urgent need on the Council to take action to mitigate the cost of compliance failure.

The Council began to procure suitable facilities to treat waste in 2005 with the development of the Outline Business Case (OBC) in 2006, which was approved in January 2007. They are currently undertaking their Competitive Dialogue process.

Mace managed two distinct commissions with three month timelines up to June 2008. To assist the council with its Planning consultation process and the related but separate high profile procurement process Mace provided communication management (or gatekeeper) services. Mace was also responsible for the project management support role within these works to assist and support the council during the busy dialogue phases of the procurement process.

Mace continues to work with Buckinghamshire County Council to close the deal and to ensure that strong project and communication management techniques contribute to an effective project delivery programme.
