Mace project showcased for design quality

19/03/2010
The Southampton Operational Command Unit (OCU) project has recently been used as a case study on the Design Quality Indicator (DQI) website. Mace has been working on the OCU project for Hampshire Police Authority which is in the process of relocating several satellite police stations into one custom built facility that includes a 36-cell custody suite.
The DQI was launched in 2002, led by the Construction Industry Council with support from many government and industry bodies with an interest in improving the built environment. The introduction of the DQI process to the construction of a new building or the refurbishment of an existing building aims to dramatically improve the quality of design and construction. The new OCU has been used as an example on the website as to where DQI has added value to the project. To read the case study follow this link.
Appointed via the IESE framework, Mace has been providing an integrated service to the client since 2007. Due for completion in December 2010, the project team is currently helping to relocate all police staff to the new building from various locations in the city with plans for the building to be fully occupied by April 2011.
